Cardiovascular and Renal Effects (3) The mechanism behind the antinatriuretic and other renal effects of GH is not clear, but the parallel time course of renal effects, and the increase in levels of plasma insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I), suggest that it may be IGF-I mediated. In addition, significant activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system following GH treatment has been found to occur (Fig. 2.32).
